LEADERS UNITE TO ADDRESS REGIONAL ISSUES
CIVIC Leadership Institute Sets Stage for Change
(NORFOLK, VA) More than 80 leaders from across Hampton Roads gathered virtually on September 24th, 2020 as the CIVIC Leadership Institute launched its 2021 executive leadership program year. As Hampton Roads grapples with a global pandemic and economic uncertainty, CIVIC has positioned itself at the forefront of efforts to address resiliency, recovery, inclusivity, and regional collaboration.
The organization’s incoming Class of 2021 will address these issues head-on, along with CIVIC’s network of more than 900 alumni leaders. The class consists of 39 dynamic senior level leaders from across the 757 region. A full roster of class members can be found by visiting https://www.civichr.org/executive-program/current-class/.
“Our community needs committed leaders ready to listen, learn, and act,” said CIVIC Leadership Institute’s President and CEO, Sarah Jane Kirkland. “CIVIC is fully committed to utilizing its resources, talent, and programming to create meaningful change.”
Due to the pandemic, CIVIC Leadership Institute has announced the postponement of its signature regional event, the Darden Awards for Regional Leadership, until November 17, 2021. No honorees will be named this year and all nominations submitted will automatically be considered for the 2021 Darden Awards. Each year, CIVIC presents the award to an individual whose contributions and service have made significant impacts in the Hampton Roads community. In addition to the individual award, CIVIC also presents the Corporate Darden Award for Regional Leadership to an organization with a proven track record of service and regional commitment.
CIVIC Leadership Institute remains grateful to TowneBank and Kaufman & Canoles for their continued support of programming and as title sponsors of the 2021 Darden Awards.
