DARDEN AWARDS FOR REGIONAL LEADERSHIP RESCHEDULED
CIVIC Leadership Institute to celebrate honorees in 2022
(NORFOLK, VA) Hampton Roads’ premier leadership event, the Darden Awards for Regional Leadership, will be rescheduled out of an abundance of caution due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. CIVIC Leadership Institute announced today that the Darden Awards, originally scheduled for November 17, 2021, will instead take place on March 30, 2022, at the Decker Half Moone Center in Norfolk. Old Dominion University’s President Emeritus, John R. Broderick, will receive the Individual Darden Award, and Sentara Healthcare will be honored with the Corporate Darden Award.
“CIVIC Leadership Institute is embarking on its 25th anniversary serving our community by fostering exceptional leaders,” said CIVIC’s President and CEO, Sarah Jane Kirkland. “Though we’re rescheduling the Darden Awards due to safety precautions, our goal remains to make this celebration the most memorable event we’ve ever produced.”
Established in 2005, the Darden Award for Regional Leadership is named for CIVIC Leadership Institute’s Founder Emeritus, the late Joshua P. Darden Jr. Each year, CIVIC presents the award to an individual and a corporation whose contributions and service have made significant impacts in the Hampton Roads community. Past Individual Darden Award winners comprise some of Hampton Roads’ most prestigious regional leaders including David R. Goode & Susan S. Goode, Harvey L. Lindsay, Jr., George Y. Birdsong, John R. Lawson, II, Joan and Macon Brock, Jane Parke Batten, John O. “Dubby” Wynne, Vince and Suzanne Mastracco, Dr. Deborah DiCroce, Jack L. Ezzell, Harry T. Lester, Paul O. Hirschbiel, Jr., G.
