2021 COVID Updates

COVID-19 UPDATE – Darden Awards Rescheduled

Due to ongoing challenges associated with the pandemic and the expected guest count at our signature event, the CIVIC Board Of Directors has made the difficult decision to reschedule the 2022 Darden Awards. Originally planned for March 30th, we now look forward to celebrating this year’s nominees on Wednesday, November 16th, 2022, at the Decker Half Moone Cruise and Celebration Center. For more information about the event please click here.

CIVIC will continue to hold events virtually through May 2021 and move into hybrid program sessions starting in June. Alumni, please stay tuned for opportunities to join us for programming. Check out our Alumni Events page for more information. At this point in time, we anticipate that events in the fall, including the CIVIC Class of 2022 programming, will be in a hybrid or fully in-person format.

COVID-19 UPDATE – Virtual Events: Tuesday, April 14, 2020

We hope that each of you and your families continue to feel well and safe.  Thank you to all of our community leaders, first responders, and essential service providers for your bravery and for making a difference.  The demonstration of such compassion and kindness from all corners of the world is truly inspiring.  As are the stories of true leaders stepping up and making a difference.  So many of those leaders here in Hampton Roads that are making an impact are CIVIC alumni, and we are grateful to them for guiding the region through this pandemic.

Executive level leadership is so critically important, especially as we turn towards the pathway to recovery.  This will not be an easy task, but with the connections within CIVIC I am confident our region will come out of this even stronger.

We invite you to join us for our first ever Virtual CIVIC Program Day on April 28th!  This afternoon session will feature Barry DuVal, Secretary Aubrey Layne and our annual General Assembly Wrap-Up with Kemper Consulting. Click here to join us!

First and foremost, we hope that you and your families are safe and well.  The COVID-19 pandemic continues to redefine how businesses operate and how communities are working to support one another.  I have certainly been inspired by the entrepreneurial and community-minded spirit demonstrated by so many during this time.  My sincere thanks to all our alumni who are working every day to keep our region safe during this crisis.  Please reach out if there’s anything I can do to help.

We will soon be sharing more details about these Community Impact Initiatives and how you can get more involved.  Thank you all so much for the emails and calls of support.  We’re all in this together and I hope you will join me by renewing your membership or making a donation to CIVIC.  Your support is so impactful, and as CIVIC prepares to be part of the recovery solution for the region, we appreciate your commitment to our work.
