The CIVIC Leadership program runs from October to May of each year. Each month, class participants gather at major points of interest around Hampton Roads, learning about the region from people who are involved in its government, economy, defense, education, transportation, industry, not-for-profit, arts and other aspects of business and life in Hampton Roads.
The intent of the program is to inform and influence high levels of community esprit de corps within Hampton Roads, leading to an ever-improving place to work, live, play and grow.
CIVIC Leadership Institute connects proven leaders through service to improve life in Hampton Roads.
Recruiting for upcoming classes is a year-round process. The recruiting committee, which is composed of members of previous CIVIC classes, meets periodically to assess the recommendations. Each class is comprised of a cross section of leaders from the business, education, military, cultural and non-profit communities. CIVIC also has a strong committment to geographic, ethnic and gender diversity.
New classes are announced at the completion of each class year. The deliberations of the recruitment committee are confidential and its decisions are final. Candidates that are recommended but not selected for a given class year may be held for consideration in following years.
